The Good Shepherd is looking for you

The Good Shepherd is looking for you

Take a deep breath. At dusk, the meadow becomes a soft blanket and the stream murmurs names. One sheep is missing; the Shepherd rises, takes his staff, and begins a search that, unhurried, is also for you.

Prayer description

Contemplative narrative inspired by the parable of the lost sheep. Follow the Shepherd through meadows and valleys to recover what was wounded and return to the fold in peace.

How to pray

Listen to it lying down or sitting with your back supported. Take 5–6 deep nasal breaths (inhale for 4 counts, exhale for 6). If it helps, repeat every so often: 'Lord Jesus, stay with me.' Keep the volume low and let the environment (stream, breeze, sheep) carry you to sleep.
