The solemnity of the Assumption (August 15) celebrates that Mary, at the end of her earthly life, was taken body and soul into heaven. This novena — prayed from August 6 to 14 — prepares for the feast by contemplating the mysteries of the life of the Mother of God and asking for the grace to walk towards the heavenly homeland following her example of faith, hope, and charity.
For nine days, from August 6 to 14: 1) Sign of the Cross and act of contrition; 2) Initial prayer; 3) Reading of the intention and reflection of the day; 4) Prayer specific to the day; 5) (optional) Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be; 6) Daily final prayer; 7) Marian litanies (Lauretan) ending with the verse and the concluding prayer. It is recommended to receive communion and practice works of mercy during the novena, offering everything for the glory of God and the salvation of souls.
