The novena to Saint Joseph is prayed to honor the chaste Spouse of the Virgin Mary, guardian of Jesus, and Patron of the universal Church. From March 10 to 18 (nine days before his solemnity on March 19), the faithful meditate on his virtues—faith, obedience, diligence, chastity, and inner silence—imploring his powerful intercession for the needs of the Church, families, and workers.
Each of the nine days: 1) Sign of the Cross and act of contrition; 2) Initial prayer to Saint Joseph; 3) Reading of the intention and reflection of the day; 4) Personal prayer; 5) (optional) Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be; 6) Daily final prayer; 7) Litany of Saint Joseph with its verse and concluding prayer. It is advisable to confess, receive communion, and perform acts of charity during the novena to better prepare for heavenly graces.
