The Novena to Saint Anne honors the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary and grandmother of Jesus. Venerated since the early centuries, Saint Anne is the patroness of grandparents, couples wishing to conceive, expectant mothers, and Christian families. Her life of trusting faith and discreet service prepared the earthly cradle of the Redeemer. Throughout these nine days, the faithful meditate on her example of persevering hope, docility to God's will, and maternal tenderness, asking for her intercession to strengthen homes and engender spiritual life in the Church.
Traditionally prayed from July 17 to 25, culminating on July 26 (the feast of Saints Joachim and Anne), although it can be started at any time of need. Each day begins with the Act of Contrition and the initial prayer to Saint Anne; then the intention and reflection for the day are proclaimed, followed by the day's prayer. It concludes with the daily ejaculation or final prayer. After the nine days, the litany to Saint Anne is prayed with its verse and final prayer. Throughout the novena, it is recommended to go to confession, participate in the Eucharist, and perform a concrete act of love towards grandparents or families facing difficulties.
