Novena to Our Lady of Fatima

Novena to Our Lady of Fatima

Oh Most Holy Virgin of Fatima, Mother of the Rosary and Queen of Peace, who descended from heaven to show the shepherd children the mercy of your Immaculate Heart: illuminate my mind, strengthen my faith, and kindle in me the love for Jesus. Kindly receive this novena that I offer you and present it to your Son, so that we may obtain the graces we need. Amen.

Prayer description

The Novena to Our Lady of Fatima commemorates the apparitions of the Virgin Mary to the three shepherd children—Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta—in Cova da Iria (Portugal) between May 13 and October 13, 1917. Her message, focused on conversion, prayer—especially the Holy Rosary—, reparation for sins, and consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, remains an urgent call for the Church and the world. During these nine days, the faithful delve into each aspect of the teachings of Fatima, seeking the intercession of the Virgin to obtain peace, the end of conflicts, the conversion of sinners, and personal holiness.

How to pray

Traditionally, it is prayed from May 4th to May 12th to culminate on May 13th, the feast of Our Lady of Fatima, although it can be started at any time. Each day begins with the Act of Contrition, followed by the initial prayer to the Virgin. Then the corresponding intention and reflection are proclaimed, and the prayer of the day is recited. At the end, the ejaculation and the daily final prayer can be added. After the nine days, the litanies to Our Lady of Fatima are prayed with their verse and concluding prayer. It is recommended to confess, participate in the Eucharist, pray the Rosary daily, and offer some act of sacrifice for the conversion of sinners during the novena.
